Another favourite of mine but this time a different location - a new Yo! Sushi restaurant has opened in Leamington. It only opened a few weeks ago and therefore is very new! With my best friend, Jayne working in Warwick - we thought it was the perfect opportunity to try it for dinner with our other friend, Sam. Especially as on a Monday its 'Blue Mondays' which means you can dine at any Yo! Sushi restaurant on a Monday and enjoy a wide selection of their menu and conveyor belt options and you only pay the blue plate option of £2.50.

The restaurant was so busy! It was about 7.30pm and we had to put or names down and wait about 20minutes for our table - not a too long wait but we were all so hungry! The interior was really lovely, very bright and modern with the open kitchen in the middle and tables all the way around the outside with the conveyor belt going past each table on its way past. We were shown to our table where we were given some menus. Unfortunately we did have to wait a while to get served for our drinks and when they did eventually bring them one of the drinks was wrong - it then took them even longer to bring the correct drink back to us and we had to remind them! I understand they were very busy but bad service is inexcusable. As they were so busy the conveyor belt was empty pretty much - therefore, we had to order our food through the waiter, which, again took a long time. The whole concept of Yo! Sushi is that is fast food - this definitely wasn't fast!

The Blue Monday menu does offer a lot of choice and many of the classic favourite dishes which is good, usually when restaurants have deals like this they limit the choices too much. We ordered about 5 dishes each at first - which did take a while to get to us but I understand they were busy and they are still trying to find their feet.

Dishes -

Prawn & Chive Maki x 2

Duck Gyoza

Prawn Katsu

Chicken Firecracker Rice

In the end I couldn't resist and ended up having a 6th dish...

Yo! Roll

The portion sizes at Yo! Sushi are obviously very small, encouraging you to buy many different plates but I find between 4-6 plates is enough to fill you up. Firstly, the Prawn & Chive Maki was very tasty, chopped prawns and chives in between sticky rice and covered with seaweed. This particular dish is usually £3.10 as its a purple bowl - as I had two plates of this I had 8 pieces of sushi - and it was very tasty. Next, was the Duck Gyoza - duck and hoi sin sauce inside a pastry casing, this plate is usually £4.10. Therefore 'Blue Mondays' is a very good deal. This dish is also very tasty and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thirdly was the Prawn Katsu - juicy prawns encased in tempura batter with a fruity katsu sauce. Again, this dish is usually £4.10. These prawns were probably my favourite dish of the evening, the prawns were very juicy and tender and the tempura better was light and crispy - my only criticism, needs more sauce! Fourthly, I had the Chicken Firecracker Rice - spicy sushi rice, chicken and stir fried vegetables, this was tasty but a little bit too spicy for my liking. Lastly, I was very full by this point but fancied something little to end the meal so I went for the Yo! Roll - this is their signature dish and consists of Salmon, avocado, mayonnaise roll coated in orange smelt roe. This dish is usually orange and therefore is £3.60 - again, not cheap for two small bits of sushi which makes it worth while visiting this restaurant on a Monday. The Yo! Roll was very tasty and probably my second favourite dish of the evening. Very tasty food!

Pricing -

On 'Blue Monday' dishes - £2.50 (other dishes on the menu and specials are available)
Other days - £2.50-£7.00
Drinks - I find the drinks pretty expensive here, having to pay £1.10 for water too! Soft drinks vary from £2.40-£4.00 and the alcoholic drinks depend on what it is you want. Their drinks menu will tell you more.

Overall -

A very good restaurant, service was very slow at the beginning but improved as the night went on. Tasty Japanese food done and served very well. Pricy on normal days but to be honest - ery reasonably priced on 'Blue Monday.' Our bill came to £58 for three of us - not a bad price and we were very full afterwards! I will be returning to the Yo! Sushi in Leamington
