The Horse & Jockey-1/07/2013: Wythall

Me and my friend Rachel were going to a house warming party and after a day of baking we couldn't be bothered to make anything so we decided to go out for a cheap meal to; The Horse & Jockey in Wythall. I remembered we had been to this pub ages ago and it was so cheap and cheerful, they offer 2 meals for £10, 2 starters for £5 and 2 desserts for £5-which is a bargain! So as we needed to be quick and didn't want to spend a lot, we decided to go here.

The decor inside is like a typical cheap pub to be honest, you have to order everything at the bar but the  menu has SO much choice, from pub favourites, burgers, hunters chicken, fish, ribs, chicken.. everything you could possibly want for incredibly cheap prices. It took us ages to decide what to have but for only £5 each-who can complain?! We both went for the same thing in the end, as we see it go out all the time at work but I never really have it!

Gammon, Egg & Chips with Peas & Tomato

Well, for £5 the portion size is definitely big enough! It's huge! The presentation isn't great, but what can you expect for £5 really?! But the gammon was 10oz so it was huge! The chips were cooked perfectly to be fair, crispy on the outside but soft on the inside, I hardly got any peas at all which was a bit annoying, but when it's so cheap I never like to say anything. The gammon was cooked very well too, not overly fatty and not chewy at all! There isn't too much I can say about gammon and chips but for £5 it was very good-my whole meal with my drink came to £6.20-such a bargain!

7/10.
