Bodega, Birmingham, 18/06/15

This is somewhere that has been on my list for a while so I was excited to finally try it. I met my best friend, Matt in Birmingham and we went to Bodega for a spot of dinner and drinks! Its a South American Bar and I have heard many good reviews about the food and cocktails.
On arrival it was very busy, it has a cool vibe and atmosphere. We were shown to our table of two and given drinks and food menus - off course I had to order my cocktail first!

They do cocktails for £4.50 on weekday evenings, what a bargain!

Pina Colada

This was delicious! It was a frozen cocktail and therefore very refreshing and it was the perfect blend of coconut, rum, cream and pineapple. I like the pineapple leaves in it too - it was a nice touch and it tasted delicious. I definitely could've stayed here all night and tried all the cocktails but it was a school night!

After a while deciding as the menu had lots of choice and all of it sounded yummy! They do street food, light bites, larger plates and sides.

I decided to go for some street food and a few sides.

Pulled Pork Tacos with Red Cabbage & Red Onion
£5.25

Red Wine Glazed Chorizo
£5.50
Batatas Fritas - Sweet Potato Fries, Chipotle Mayo
£3.75
House Salad
£3.25

This was a very good meal - the tacos were yummy but did have slightly too much red cabbage/red onion on them which did overpower the pulled pork a little bit which was a shame but it was still very tasty and wasn't too filling with the sides which were very good.

We shared the Chorizo which was rich, tangy and cooked to perfection. The Sweet Potatoes were crisp, sweet and fluffy - just as they should be and the Chipotle dip was a lovely touch. The salad was huuuge, very good value and it had so much avocado in it - which is always a great thing as avocado is the best!

Shorted with Dulce de Leche with Toffee Ice Cream
£4.25

Wow this was sooooo good! It was presented really well on the plate and it tasted even better. The shortbread was buttery and soft and cut into triangles with Dulce de Leche smothered in the middle, which is a caramel style thick sauce - delicious! This was a gorgeous dessert and the ice cream helped to calm down the sweetness of the shortbread and caramel.

This was a very good meal, I throughly enjoyed the food and the cocktail was very good, the service was faultless and I would definitely go back! Great experience.
