TGI Fridays is an old favourite- typical American food restaurant, loud, busy and massive portions! Tom had never been before so we decided to go one night after work, they offer a reasonably priced food deal: The Downtown- 2 courses for £10.99 or the Uptown- 2 courses for £15.99. This offer is only available Monday-Thursday. The normal menu isn't cheap, therefore, this deal is pretty good.
We were shown our table pretty quick and ordered drinks straight away and they came fast- which gave us a chance to look through the menu whilst drinking. However, the service did slow down. We waited quite a while to order our food.
We both decided to go for the Uptown menu choice and share two starters between us. I know how delicious the food is so I hoped Tom agreed.
Starters:
Jack Daniels Sesame Chicken Strips - crispy chicken breast strips, tossed in Jack Daniel's sweet n smoky glaze topped with sesame seeds and chilli flakes
&
Jack Daniels Cajun-Battered Shrimp - Cajun battered shrimp with Jack Daniels sweet n smoky glaze for dipping
YUM right?! They look so good when they are on the plate and you get so much food! Both these starters are £5.99 each - therefore making the Uptown offer very good. I almost got too full from the staters! The chicken was so good, its so crispy on the outside and has a perfect amount of Jack Daniels glaze on it (btw - the Jack Daniels sauce at TGI's is like heaven in a bowl!) the sesame seeds are also a nice touch.
The Cajun shrimp was just as good- the batter has a slight kick to it making it have more flavour, as normal batter can be quite plain. Again, the generous helping of Jack Daniels sauce on the side helps, the perfect dipping sauce to these tasty Cajun shrimps!
Very good starters but very filling.
The main course I chose is the one I have always as I just can't resist, mostly due to the heaven in sauce!!
Full Rack of Ribs- full rack of ribs coated in Jack Daniels sweet n smoky glaze or BBQ sauce. Served with onion rings and crispy fries.
As you can see, a typical huge American- style portion! The food barley fits on the plate. But again, big portions for a good price as this dish is £14.99 on the normal menu. So at £15.99 for both courses, it is a bargain! The ribs were very tender and fall of the bone they are so juicy. The Jack Daniels glaze - perfecto! The onion rings were so crispy too as were the delicious fries. Perfect, yummy but very naughty meal!
TGI's is a busy restaurant, service could be better and unless you do the weekday offer - the food isn't cheap for what you get but if you love American food you'll love this place!
