La Fibule, Mosley 16/08/14

Finally, somewhere I have wanted to try! A Moroccan restaurant; La Fibule, there happens to be one in Moseley. Mum, dad, me and my boyfriend Tom decided to go one Saturday night.

The place is very busy - booking is a must!! It has a very good atmosphere, loud and full of people having a good time. Be aware, it is non-licensed restaurant- therefore, you need to take your own alcohol. The staff are very friendly and efficient even though it was so busy.

We were shown to our table and offered soft drinks, the menu is amazing. SO much choice and all of which sounds delicious! We decided to go for starters and main courses as we couldn't decide what to have as it all sounded so good!

The starter I chose was:

Crab & Prawn Tabule - avocado with peeled prawns, crab meat and Bulgar salad with a touch of chilli
£6.95
Beautiful presentation! It looked amazing on the plate, at £6.95 it wasn't exactly a cheap starter especially as it wasn't a huge portion but it was worth every penny! The prawns and crab meat were delicious- they were shredded into little bits, almost like a paté and filled with a Bulgar salad in the middle which was a beautiful combination of sweet and spicy- it all went so well together with the avocado and the sweet mayonnaise that came on top of the avocado was to die for! Such an amazing starter, couldn't fault it in anyway!

After what felt like nearly an hour of deciding on a main course, I finally made a decision!

Monk Fish with Almonds- fresh Monk Fish with mushrooms, red peppers in a tomato sauce and a touch of cream
£16.95

Again, what beautiful presentation! It was so colourful and almost looked too good to eat. But, I'm glad I did eat it because what an incredibly tasty dish! I had never tried Monk Fish before but I really enjoyed it - it was quite meaty but not too much, it almost reminded me of cod but slightly tastier. The sauce it was in was amazing, reminded me quite a lot of Korma but with more a tomato flavour. The mushrooms - mmm mushrooms. They made the dish even better, the sauce was so flavoursome but simple- not too spicy or sweet. The perfect blend! We had a few sides to share with our meal:

Cous-Cous £1.95

Seasonal vegetables £2.25

Tabule Salad- bulgar with raisins, fresh tomatoes, coriander, fresh mint and parsley £3.65

The sides were pretty big for the prices - the table salad was delicious! The perfect blend of sour and sweet, the couscous was cooked perfectly and they all complimented the main dishes perfectly, the whole meal was top class- 10/10 and I haven't got a bad word to say about it! At £16.95, its pretty expensive but it was worth every single penny!

I would recommend this restaurant to anyone, you should go and give it a try. Not particularly cheap but brilliant service and exquisite food.
