Tapas Revolution, Birmingham - Grand Central, 10/11/15

This is somewhere I couldn't wait to try! The new Grand Central station is so cool, I love how airy and light it is and new restaurants are always exciting! This time I met my friend, Faith at the station and we went for dinner at Tapas Revolution - I love tapas and had heard so many good things about this place, I was intrigued and excited to try it! What's even better is between 5-7pm they do Happy Hour - 2for1 cocktails or sangria! Perfecto!

El Liberator - Ysabel Regina brandy, Chambord liqueur, cinnamon, lemon & quince
topped with Cava
£9.00

The cocktails aren't cheap but they are very tasty and unusual, they have flavours I had never had together and this one was really good! It really worked and it was fruity, sour and strong all at the same time .. brilliant!

We decided to get 6 dishes and share them between the two of us:

Tapas
Pan De La Casa - toasted bread, tomato topped with Serrano ham
£3.95

Pollo en Pepetoria - chicken in saffron, cumin and vegetable sauce
£5.50
Heovos Rotos - potatoes, chorizo and eggs
£4.50
Torreznos Con Mojo Dulce - crispy pork belly with sweet and spicy sauce
£5.50

Croquetes de Jamon - deep fried ham croquettes
£4.50
Patatas Bravas - deep fried potatoes with spicy tomato sauce and aloili
£4.95

It was all delicious! Each dish was reasonably priced too, the most expensive thing we ordered was £5.50, which is a bargain! I really enjoyed each dish and they were presented very well.

The toasted bread with serrano ham was delicious, the bread was fresh and crusty topped with a tomato sauce which was tangy and rich then topped with the delicious ham. A yummy starter dish - I really enjoyed this.

The chicken dish was also very good, the chicken was cooked perfectly, was tender, soft and the sauce it was in was full of flavour. I could really taste the cumin and saffron, it was like a Spanish curry and it was different to anything I had eaten before. Again, very tasty and full of flavour.

The potatoes, chorizo and egg was an unusual dish and even though it was very tasty, I felt it would work better as a breakfast dish not a main as the egg gave it that breakfast feel. The chorizo was cooked perfectly and the potatoes were crispy and delicious. A very good dish, just wrong time of the day for me!

The crispy pork belly, oh WOW - this was delicious. As you all know, pork belly is my favourite meat anyway and this was very good. The pork was tender, melted in the mouth and full of flavour. The crispy skin on the outside was salty, crisp and gave the meat a lovely crunch. The sauce was delicious! It was the perfect blend of sweet, tangy and spicy. I loved this! More please?!

The croquettes were very good, they were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and the ham gave it that Italian flavour. Another very good dish and they worked well as a side plate to other tapas bits.

Lastly, what else? Patatas Bravas - my favourite tapas side dish, and a must have. These were very good, a massive portion for the price, the potato was cooked perfectly, the tomato sauce was spicy but tangy and the aioli on top was a lovely touch, and gave it a yummy garlic taste, loved this!

Over all, a fantastic meal at Tapas Revolution, the service was very good, the price is reasonable, the portion sizes are generous, the cocktails are tasty and the food is delicious! I really enjoyed it and would certainly return.
