Yo Sushi! Birmingham Bullring, 25/04/15

I love this restaurant and always get very excited when I'm going as I love Sushi and I love the food - Yo Sushi is one of my favourite places to eat, its quick, convenient, very tasty and they offer 25% student discount - bonus! I love the concept, sit at the bar as the conveyor belt moves around past you and you can pick up dishes as you wish, you can also ask the waitress/waiter to get you certain foods from the menu from fresh - if they are hot or an unusual dish they may not be on the conveyor belt.

Me and my best friend, Jayne went to Birmingham as part of a shopping trip, we didn't want a huge meal and Yo Sushi is perfect for a light lunch, as you can have as little or as much as you want. You get charged by the amount of bowls you've had.

The prices vary depending on what food you decide to eat, it isn't particularly cheap if you have 5 or more plates but its very good and the food is consistently tasty and tastes fresh. We decided to get about 9 dishes and share them between us, that is just the right amount for lunch time as some of the dishes can be very filling whereas others are light. Here is a small selection of some of the dishes we had:

Crunchy Prawn Roll - Prawn Katsu, Avocado, Mayo and Purple Yukari

Hoisin Duck Oishii Buns - Shredded Roast Duck, Hoisin Sauce,
Spring Onion, Coriander and Sesame Seeds

Salmon Roll - Smoked Salmon, Cream Cheese, Cucumber & Seaweed

Yo! Roll - Salmon, Avocado, Mayo, Orange Masago Roe

Prawn Katsu - Prawns, Panko & Fruity Sauce

Each dish was so tasty! I loved it all. The Crunchy Prawn Rolls were one of my favourites - they were prawn katsu inside rice with avocado and mayo, they were very tasty and tasted fresh. Next was my definite favourite, the Oishii Buns are new to the menu at Yo Sushi and they are so, so, so good! They are Cantonese style buns that are steamed and they are so tasty - they do a few different flavours but the one I tried was Shredded Duck with Hoisin, it was very similar to the duck pancakes you get at a Chinese takeaway but the bun was moist and spongey, very delicious! I could've eaten 5 of them, but they are pretty filling. The Salmon Rolls were very good too, it was smoked salmon with cream cheese, cucumber and seaweed in the middle, the salmon tasted very fresh and the components all worked together very well, yummy Sushi! Next is the Yo Roll - this is Yo Sushi's signature sushi  - its raw salmon, avocado, and orange roe wrapped in sticky rice, another very good piece of sushi, incredibly tasty, full of flavour and fresh. Lastly was the Prawn Katsu, yum! Katsu is one of my favourites anyway, its incredibly tangy, sweet but with a kick of spice - these ones definitely could do with more sauce though, the prawn with Panko breadcrumbs was cooked to perfection but they need more sauce as you only get a drizzle.

Another very good lunch at Yo Sushi, its still on my favourite restaurants - especially for lunch time, its not cheap but the food is always very good, tasty and fresh. The service is good and the concept is fun and the menu is varied, with lots of different meat or fish choices.
