Ramada, Afternoon Tea, Sutton Coldfield 19/04/15

The Ramada in Sutton Colfield is a Hotel, Gym, Spa & they do Afternoon Tea - me and the girls got a deal on Wowcher where we could have access to the spa, get treatments and have the Afternoon Tea for £19 each - bargain! Its a nice country hotel situated off the A452 by Villa Park. I had been at a wedding the night before and was feeling slightly worse for wear, therefore, the spa and food could've of come at a better time!

The pool was massive and had a Sauna, Steam Room & Jacuzzi, perfect for a day of relaxing and chilling out. The day was lovely, me and the girls had a nice catch up and gossip - as us girls do! By the time we had all finished our individual treatments it was around 1.30/2.00pm and we were starving! I couldn't wait to eat - I was hoping we would get a generous amount of food, as the the price was so cheap I was worried it would be stingy portions!

The venue was a little weird - they had a restaurant which gets used on the evenings, then they had a bar area where people were eating Afternoon Tea but the football was on the television and it was quite noisy, which put us off. But, the waitress took us to a separate room to eat ours as there was 6 of us, there wasn't enough room in the bar area - the area was very random, it was almost as if we were placed in the hallway and they added some tables and chairs! Very strange but it was just us in there and it was cosy enough, but slightly cold.

The Afternoon Tea is usually £20 for two people and you can pay the extra £5 to get a glass of Prosecco with it.

It was lovely! The presentation was good and there was definitely enough food! There was a plate of sandwiches each and a cake each - a very generous portion which made us all very happy.

Sandwiches:
Honey Roast Ham
Smoked Salmon
Cream Cheese & Cucumber

Scone with Clotted Cream & Jam
Selection of Cakes

Tea or Coffee

The sandwiches were lovely, very fresh and the bread had the crusts cut off, which I liked! They a good amount of filling inside each one and there were 2 of each type - with the Smoked Salmon on both brown & white bread. The sandwiches were very tasty and just enough - as they are quite filling but there was just the right amount on the plate. Very impressed so far.

The Scone was delicious, I love Scones any time of the week and these tasted fresh and home made - they came with a pot of Clotted Cream and a pot of Jam - I could've done with more of each though as we had to share the pots between two of us, I would've liked more Cream & Jam but thats only a little criticism.

The cakes were yummy, there was a mini Victoria Sponge, Lemon Cake and Chocolate Brownie - all very tasty. The Victoria Sponge was moist, not dry and had a generous amount of cream and jam wedged in the middle, the Lemon Cake was a little dry for me but was still very tasty, it was a slice that had been cut off a loaf, it would've been better with some icing on it too! The Chocolate Brownie was very good, sweet, moist and sticky - I love chocolate and this didn't disappoint.

Overall, a very good Afternoon Tea - it was nothing particularly special but it tasted fresh and every part was flavoursome and tasty. If I was in the area I would go back as £10 each for Afternoon Tea is pretty good value. A very good day.
