Miller & Carter, Hockley Heath, 13/02/2013

Haven't been to Miller & Carter in ages. But it's always a favourite of mine so me and my best friend, Jayne decided to go for our girlie early valentines meal haha! The food was always consistently good before so hopefully it was the same this visit! It was quite busy there, as always. I've never been when its quiet, whatever time of the day! Our table was quite near a door so was a bit chilly but that wasn't their fault. We ordered our drinks quickly whilst we looked at the menu. I went for my usual!

8oz Rump Steak cooked medium rare with fries, onion loaf, tomato and rocket & a lettuce wedge with bacon and honey mustard dressing.
The lettuce wedge comes slightly before your main comes and they have a choice of different toppings from... Bacon & honey mustard | Stilton & blue cheese | Classic cocktail with croutons | Garlic & chive mayonnaise with Parmesan.
I have tried a few of the other flavours but the bacon and honey mustard is definitely my favourite and people may think the lettuce wedge is weird and a bit pointless but it's incredibly refreshing and is a good way to cleanse your pallet before your meal and it isn't too filling which is good as miller & carter main courses are massive! The lettuce is always very fresh and you definitely get a reasonable amount of topping.
8oz Rump Steak with chips and onion loaf.
As you can see, the portion size is pretty big! The 8oz steak is only £11/12 which is very reasonable! The 8oz is more than enough, I couldn't have anything bigger! The onion loaf is one of the best parts of this whole meal! It's got perfect consistently of crispy but soft. It compliments the steak so well and gives the meal a little extra something, so it's not just your standard steak and chips. The chips at miller & carter are always SO good, crispy on the outside but soft and fluffy on the inside with the perfect amount of seasoning! The steak was cooked just to my liking, medium rare and was cooked to perfection. I enjoyed this meal so much as always, consistently good food and brilliant service. Definitley one of my favourite restaurants...10/10!
We were very full but the desserts are so good here that we had to have a couple to share!

Chocolate brownie: served warm with vanilla Beechdean Farmhouse dairy ice cream and white chocolate Belgian sauce.
&
White chocolate box: shortbread topped with white chocolate mousse and raspberry coulis, with a white chocolate coating and a white chocolate sauce.

Oh my god!! Both of these desserts are amazing! They are a good size as well so you can finish them even after a massive meal! The chocolate brownie was so soft and moist which is unusual as a lot of brownies can be very dry. This one definitely wasn't and taste so good, incredibly chocolatey! Not a pudding for the people without a sweet tooth! The vanilla ice cream and white chocolate sauce broke the dessert up slightly and made it taste not so rich as it would have very rich and overpowering without it but definitely a gorgeous dessert and I would choose it again and again! The white chocolate box is also so good! The box is very light & creamy and as you put your spoon into it the dessert oozes out raspberry coulis which is a lovely touch and adds something a bit extra to the dessert as the white chocolate box doesn't have a lot of flavour on it's own so the coulis makes it incredibly tasty! Both 10/10 desserts!
Miller & Carter didn't fail to impress once again. I would keep returning time and time again!
