Durham Ox, Shrewley, 31/03/15
The Durham Ox in Shrewley is an Old English Inn pub situated in the heart of the countryside in a little village called Shrewley. Its an 18th Century Pub, it was once well known for its Marrow Sunday post harvest celebration, steam fair, flower and produce competition and auction, before being converted in 2002 to the large pub restaurant you see now. This restaurant/pub has had new owners many times over the last 5-7 years and therefore I was skeptical as I have heard very mixed views.
The Bear Inn. Berkswell 29/03/15
The Bear Inn is a 16th Century Pub situated in Berkswell, near Coventry. Its a very pretty village and a Grade II listed building and a traditional country pub. Our American friends were over and he loves history, so we decided to take him to this pub for a Sunday lunch. It's very pretty inside, with beams everywhere and has a lovely traditional feel to it. Its the perfect location for a spot of lunch or an afternoon drink in the summer. We had a table booked as there were 10 of us, they sat us down quickly, it was a good job we did book as it was very busy!
The Orange Tree, 26/03/14
The Orange Tree based in Solihull is one my favourites. Paul Salisbury knows how to run Gastro pubs and all of his restaurants are very good - this one in particular. My friend took me for my birthday as a late birthday meal, which was very nice of him and I was very excited as I hadn't been in a while!
Turtle Bay, Leamington 24/03/14
Happy Birthday to me!
I was turning 23, had just got got back from holiday and started a new job yesterday so I was pretty tired and didn't want to do a lot for my birthday night, but off course it had to involve food! Turtle Bay is somewhere I have been wanting to try for ages and what better opportunity that my birthday! It's a Caribbean Restaurant based in Leamington and Birmingham - we went to the Leamington one as its closer to home. It's a fun place with great atmosphere and if you go between 6-7pm or 10-11pm they do Happy Hour, where all cocktails are 2for1 - their cocktails are delicious too. It's a busy place, so make sure you book. Even on a Tuesday night it was full, which is always a good sign.
I was very excited to try the food - especially after just spending 10 days in the Caribbean, I missed the Jamaican food!
Jamaica, 2015
Jamaica, had finally come round and I was so excited! We were staying at The Grand Palladium Hotel in Lucea, Jamaica. It was an amazing, huge hotel with so many facilities and so much to do! I would like to thank all the team and staff at the hotel for the amazing service we received over our 10 day stay - it was beautiful from start to finish. I didn't want to holiday to end.
The hotel had a buffet restaurant that changed theme every night as well as 7 A La Carte restaurants, all included in the All Inclusive, this was amazing for me with my love of food! I couldn't wait to try them all.
Jamaica has many special memories for me, as I was born there and its such a beautiful country with amazing views and so much to do. We loved every second of being there.
Garfunkels, Gatwick Airport 09/03/15
The time was finally here, Jamaica! I was so excited, but off course all holidays have to start with a yummy breakfast at the airport. I did my research before going down to Gatwick and saw they had a Garfunkel's within the North Terminal. The menu seemed pretty good, I've been to Garfunkel's in London for lunch a few times but never tried their breakfasts. We got through security pretty quick and got to Garfunkel's with plenty of time to spare. With the excited bubbling, we were happy and couldn't wait get to Jamaica.
Five Guys, Solihull
This is one I was very excited about! I have heard SO much hype and excitement about this place and the food looks delicious, I had been dying to try it for months and this was the day! Five Guys has been open in America since 1986 and finally in 2013, they opened the first one in Covent Garden, London and eventually last year one opened in Solihull - its become so popular and the franchise is huge! There are over 1,000 locations nationwide and over 1,500 units in development.
They pride themselves on their fresh produce and products using 100% beef and real-potato cut skin-on fries.
- There are over 250,000 possible ways to order a burger at Five Guys.
- There are no freezers in Five Guys locations, just coolers. Nothing is ever frozen.
- They use peanut oil to cook their fries
Byzantium, Kings Heath 07/03/15
Everyone needs to try this place, a Mediterranean Tapas Restaurant in Kings Heath: Byzantium. Mum, Dad and I had just been to the theatre to watch The Kings Speech and fancies somewhere very different to eat - this place has been rated very high on TripAdvisor and we all love Tapas, therefore, decided to give it a try. It doesn't look like much from the outside, its set off one of the side streets on Kings Heath High Street - meaning parking is slightly tricky but if you're lucky you can get on road parking. I looked the menu online and it looked delicious so we were very excited to try it! They also have quite a few offers such as, 2for1 - so check out their website!
Number 50, Alcester, 06/03/15
A new restaurant for me this time, I went to my friends house in Feckenham and we all decided to go out and eat - they had all been here before and said how good it was so I ask excited to try it: Number 50 in Alcester. Its a very typical, English country pub and looked lovely and homely from the outside. My friend explained they do a very reasonably priced set-menu which is two courses two courses for £16.00 or three courses for £19.95 - which I felt was a very good price and they serve it 12pm-2pm and 6.30-9.30pm everyday, which is unusual for set menus as they usually stop at a certain time and don't run on weekends. It wasn't too busy, luckily as we hadn't booked and it was a Saturday night - we were shown to our table. It had lovely decor inside, very bright and airy. I was excited to sample the food!
Giraffe, Solihull 03/03/15
Another favourite of mine, Giraffe in Solihull. I love this place - its so funky and colourful inside and the menu is always varied and delicious. They do a Feel Good Feel Menu too - which consists of a starter and a main for £10.95 and they are all healthy options. This was good seeing as I was off to Jamaica next week, I needed healthy food! They have so much choice on their menu and they offer 25% student discount!
The Savoy, Gordon Ramsey 01/03/15
I told you this weekend was a very foodie related one! After The Shard on Saturday and The Shake Shack, we were so full but Sunday arrived and so did my parents ready to meet us and we went to The Savoy Grill - Gordon Rasmey's restaurant located inside The Savoy Hotel. This location is just stunning, a very famous restaurant and hotel in London and it definitely looks grand from the outside!
This again, was a Virgin Experience present given to us from our family for Christmas - a three course lunch at The Savoy Grill. What a perfect present for us and seeing as me and Jayne were already in London, my parents drove down to meet us on the Sunday. I was so excited for this meal, this was a restaurant I had always wanted to try and just being able to eat in The Savoy was an experience! It was a set menu for the lunch time - therefore any drinks/sides or extras had to be paid for.
